Monty's Way Trail

Begun in July, 2012, Monty’s Way was phase 2 of the accessibility trails program - similar in length to Take It Easy but an easier loop this time. The major funder this time was Human Resources and Skills Development Canada. Help also came from the District of Sechelt, the Sunshine Coast Community Forest, Swanson’s Redi-Mix and Lehigh Materials.

As on “Take It Easy’, the roughing in fell to Jason Herz of Small World Excavating who once again deeply discounted his rate. His work was followed by that of the Trailbuilders who used experience gained on ‘Take It Easy’ to perform like a well oiled machine. Unlike the previous trail, this one had drainage issues that required the Trailbuilders to install 7 large culverts.

The opening was held on April 7th, 2013 in conjunction with the SPCA and

ribbon cutting was performed by Bill Conway and his dog Captain Midnight

The name of the Trail honours Monty, recently deceased faithful companion to Bob D’Arcy, President of the Sechelt Groves Society.

A detailed account of his life is included in the pdf files.
